SCOM 2012 R2 Upgrade to SCOM 2016

Need some advice on below

I am upgrading the current SCOM 2012 SP1 to SCOM 2012 R2 UR14 which went successfully. Overall idea is to reach SCOM 2016 on new Windows server 2016 since 2012 is running on older version

Created Wk16 and while trying to add to existing management group (which has SCOM 2012 R2 UR14) i dont see database is getting deducted (Its SQL 2012 SP4). I tried the same by running SCOM 2012 R2 which deducted the operationsmanager database. So is it compatibility issues in adding scom 2016 with SCOM 2012 R2 UR14 management group

Any support please, even tried adding security admin though the account has full admin/sysadmin/db owner. Also SCOM agent is not installed on that server

Hi,

Yes, it may cause issues when we add management server (of different version) to a management group. For upgrding methods, one is to create a new management group and have the agents multi-homed; the other is to backup the existing server and upgrade to new version directly (in case of failure, we can revert it back).

I tried to add the SCOM 2012 R2 which discovered Operationmanager database, but it failed with the same error stating ":Failed to execute sql command. Setup will not retry on this Sql error. Command: p_MOMManagementGroupInfoSelect"

I manually searched for the stored procedure which is available. I gave full access to the service accounts and even performed UDL test successfully. Not sure why it cant find the SP which is already available
