Exchange 2013 mailbox migration error

Hello there,

I am having trouble migrating some mailbox databases from Exchange 2013 CU23 to a new Exchange 2013 CU23.

We've had problems with our exchange servers, so we decided to create another Exchange 2013, which went well.
Now we're on the process of migrating the mailboxes from the old database, from MX02(Old Server) to the MX03(The new one)
The migration is going good but we're having some problems with some mailboxes.
This error shows:
Error: The call to 'net.tcp://mx02.domain/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService MX02.domain15.0.1497.15 caps:0400001F7FFFFFCB07FFFF)' timed out. Error details: This request operation sent to net.tcp://MX02.domain/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:00:50). The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. This may be because the service is still processing the operation or because the service was unable to send a reply message. Please consider increasing the operation timeout (by casting the channel/proxy to IContextChannel and setting the OperationTimeout property) and ensure that the service is able to connect to the client. --> This request operation sent to net.tcp://MX02.domain/Microsoft.Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:00:50). The migration goes till 80%+ then stops with this error, it retries 60 times then stops.
I've changed the Timetolive in the registry for all the servers, but no success.

Hi @luangashi-7285

I suppose these mailboxes should have a larger size than the other ones.
If it is the case, the cause of this issue should be due to network latency.

I've changed the Timetolive in the registry for all the servers, but no success.

To resolve this issue, please try changing the DataImportTimeout value to a larger value in the MsExchangeMailboxReplication.exe.config file.
(by default under the path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Bin)

Then restart the Microsoft Exchange Replication service.

This is the configuration I changed on the servers
<MRSProxyConfiguration
IsEnabled="true"
MaxMRSConnections="100"
DataImportTimeout="00:20:00" />

Larger mailboxes than these which failed have migrated .

Hi,

If the migration still fails, a workaround would be using export/import pst files to migrate the mailboxes.

Here are a link on this topic for your reference:
Mailbox import and export requests

You may need to disable the mailbox and re-enable the mailbox to create an empty mailbox in the database hosted by the new Exchange server, and import the pst file into it.
