When Windows fails to boot options are:

a) troubleshoot the boot failure
b) backup important files > clean install Windows
c) attempt steps that may or may not prompt the password
startup repair
system restore
regback (older windows versions)
reset save files (typically requires administrative password)
custom install (typically requires administrative password)

If you choose to troubleshoot then you can
a) run manual commands > post images of the commands with results
(this may not require administrative password)
b) run third party software
(this may not require administrative password)

If you choose to backup important files then clean install the steps can be posted.
(this does not require administrator logon)

If you choose to perform trial and error steps then you can document which steps do or do not require a password.

Hi there,

If you go to Advanced options, you won’t be able to use System Repair, Startup Repair, or Command Prompt because you need to log in to an admin account first. That’s why you’re forced to use the reset option.

Once the Recovery Environment is available, navigate to Troubleshoot
Select Advanced options, and then go to Reset this PC.
Select the first option, Keep personal files and apps
Hit the Reset button and check if the issue persists.
