Authenticator on Multiple Devices

Hello,

My wife and I share a hotmail account. We would like to start using the Authenticator app for two-step verification. However, we would each like the app on our phones.

Is it possible to run the Authenticator app on two different phones and get the verification code to both apps at the same time?

Thank you!

Alex

Despite what ShishiXu says, it is absolutely possible to have an authenticator on each of your devices. To do this, set it up on one device and when the QR code is displayed, scan it on the second device as well. Verify that both apps generate the same code.

Print the QR code on paper or to a file as a PDF. That way, if you ever need to set up the phone again, you'll have the secret that's shared with the server again.

Unless you saved an image of it or you both scanned the QR code at the same time, you cannot recover it. What you can do, however, is disable 2FA and then turn it on again. You'll get another QR code to scan. Both can scan the code at the same time and make sure the value generated on each phone matches the other. Print the QR code for safekeeping , either on paper or as a PDF. Label it so you know what service it's for.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I know Authenticator can be used for multiple accounts, but can it be used on multiple devices for the same account?

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I already have Authenticator running on my phone. Where can I find the QR code to be scanned by my wife's phone?

    Thanks again!

    Alex

    Hi

I'm Independent Advisor Claire and a Microsoft user like you.

I am very sorry, authenticator can issue codes for multiple accounts from the same mobile device.
