Dynamics Marketing: Customer Journey - 'is registered' trigger doesn't work

I've created a Customer Journey for an upcoming event. Recipients in segment are sent an email invitation to event. There's an if/then trigger to check whether the recipient has registered or not. Everyone continues on NEGATIVE path regardless of registration status. We need those who registered to continue on the positive path. Please assist.
