Azure MARS - Backups - Stuck in Post backup step

Hi there,

We are using Azure MARS for system state and Files backup but for some reasons it is stuck at post backup steps since 8 days and all other backups could not be started becuase of that particular event.

Backup Agent Version: 2.0.9207.0

I have now upgraded the agent to the latest build and now getting below error message when starting MARS.

Can you please help.

While lunching MARS console, are you getting any error or its opening correctly and displaying jobs? OR the MARS console will open but won't display anything other than snap-in error?

It is happening while launching the MARS agent.

MARS agent was launching fine with the last build it started happening once we upgraded the agent.

Is there any way we can roll back to earlier version and give it a go again.

@Jatin We are aware of an issue with MARS agent 2.0.9223.0 and working on fixing it. Hopefully the fix should be ready by early next week with the release of a new MARS agent. If this issue is causing any production failure, I recommend you reach out to Azure technical support team by raising a support request.

Yes, we reinstalled the agent and managed to get MMC going but for some reasons system state backups are still failing.

We have now got Windows Team looking at logs for more information about the failure.

I found that MARS agent Version 2.0.9223.0 has an issue when you schedule a backup job from the MARS agent GUI.

Open Task Scheduler go to Task Scheduler Library / Microsoft / OnlineBackup -> Right-click on the task and select "Properties" to edit the backup task.

Under General Tab -> make sure "Configure for:" is set for your OS.

Under Actions Tab -> Edit
In Edit Action window -> In "Add Arguments (options):" field -> make sure the " is on the end of the argument. (I found the " was missing from my tasks).

Click Ok / Ok to save the task.

The task should run at the next scheduled time...

@Jatin Appreciate your patience in this matter!

Please "Download the latest version of the Azure Backup agent". With new version of MARS agent, we have fixed issues like VSS warnings, Snap-in loading error and orphan jobs entries (Failed/Completed).

Let us know if you have any issues with the new version of MARS agent 2.0.9226.0.
