As I understand it if I want to build a logic app to receive/parse/send EDI messages I will need an “Integration account”.
I see the monthly cost of an integration account is pretty high $1.37 per hour.
Does the Integration account need to be running all the time or could it be scheduled to run only at certain times of the day (to keep costs down)?
If so, what would happen to EDI messages that a third party was trying to send to my logic app if the integration account was not running? Would these just be queued by the third party or would the messages be lost?
Forgive me is this is a stupid question but I didn’t even know what EDI was a couple of weeks ago and ignorance was bliss!!!

@Dean Pluthero Unfortunately, You cannot start/stop the Integration account so it will be running all the time. The only way to stop the per-hour billing is to delete the Integration account.
@MayankBargali-MSFT Thats bad news and it prices Azure out as a viable option for our project.
Do you know why an integration account is SO expensive?
@Dean Pluthero As there are multiple resources used to run the integration account services and it does provide the advantage of Logic Apps B2B / EDI and XML processing capabilities out of the box. The pricing is set by the team by calculating multiple factors that a particular service provides.

As Dean said, it makes little sense then to use the EDI capabilities of Azure Logic apps. I find it hard to believe that MS consideres the 1000+/month entry point a very afordable option for a small company.
I think there was to be a "active listening" method that is collecting the calls from diferent business partners and once the logic app is schduled to start will do whatever it has to do (convert PO from clients for our own ERP, convert an invoice we issued into the approapriate format for our client).
Eventually what a client pays for is the actual converstion and not the waiting room. The active listener should work like a mail box which allows us not to stay all the time waiting in the street for the postman to deliver the mail. And that mailbox should be cheap.
ps: I am a novice in anything that is related to technicalities in Azure and EDI, and my take is based purely on common sense.
