I am not able to open word documents that are posted on Ms Teams. It When choose open via Word application, a prompt screen asking me if I want to open in safe mode. After selecting Yes or No, nothing happens.
If I choose open app via browser, it can display the document. Using Sharepoint, opening the document via web is working.

If you download this file to local, could you open this document normally via Word desktop client?

Under this case, please click "Open in Desktop App" on Word online again for a test.

Besides, I want to confirm whether this issue occurs with other Office Apps files, such as Excel workbooks.

Same here - When choose open via Word application, a prompt screen asking me if I want to open in safe mode.or not.
No matter what I choose, it looks like it's going to open word (a partial word screen opens and then nothing.
I've deleted and reinstalled office pro 2019 again to no avail. Excel, Publisher, access and Note all open fine - just not word.

Could you use OneDrive client to snyc your files?
If yes, I suggest you go to Word, click File > Account > User Information, check whether there is the OneDrive connect service.
If not, please add your OneDrive services first.
And then please go to Open > OneDrive service.
Locate your file, and open it for a test from Word app.

I've tried installing the OneDrive desktop app and sync the files to the cloud. Using desktop Word app and open a document from OneDrive, it will either prompt for Safe mode or auto closes after seeing the Word App loading banner.

The provided solution does not work. It's inconvenient not able to open online documents on Office Desktop app. I have to download the file, open it locally and upload the document back. I've tried reinstalling the Office and it works for couple of days, then back to same situation.
On the other computer, I can do editing from Office Desktop app on my online files on Sharepoint. Can you expedite this as I don't see there's any SLA to attend this support ticktet.
