Trying to use OpenGL 2.0 features with simulated hardware on Ubuntu 16.04.6

Hello,

I'm trying to use an application (similar to paraview) that uses OpenGL 2.0 features on a Linux VM.

I do not want (to pay) for any GPU on my VM, as a hardware simulation would probably be enough for me.

On a Ubuntu (physical) Workstation, I tried mesa in the past and it worked quite well. However, I can't seems to make it work on the Azure VM. Could someone point me in the right direction?

I tried compiling mesa 17 with llmv , but it doesn't seems to help (not sure if I'm using it correctly.).

Spec:

  • Standard D8s v3 (8 vcpus, 32 GiB memory)
  • Ubuntu 16.04.6
  • Gnome desktop

Thanks,
Jeff.
