Dear f karalis,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
We understand that you want to re-edit your editorial footnote numbering by skipping the numbers.
Based on your description, we have conducted a test, about Word's footnote numbering information needs to be explained to you:
As Word's footnote number is mainly to help you explain the content of the document and references, you set up and select the footnote number when the Office program will be the number of numbers in the normal order and display.
Usually you in the same chapter or the same document can be entered continuously in the corresponding footnote number to help you confirm.
Due to Word's settings, it is not possible to skip the numerical information directly in the same section and start with a new number and count.
If you need we can suggest that you can try to add footnotes for you want to skip the number of places to set up “section breaks”, set up, you can open the Word document, click on the “Footnotes” expansion, select the number for the “each section renumbered” and determine the starting number for the “76”, in the footnotes in the back to reset the corresponding footnote information to help you confirm.
Due to Word's design information, it is not possible to directly help you add a footnote by setting a jump number in the starting information.
Thank you for your careful observation, your ideas and suggestions are vital to improving Microsoft products, but this forum is primarily a technical communication platform, and the Microsoft development team will not be concerned with this forum.
We also recommend that you submit your suggestions and ideas on the dedicated feedback platform **** Welcome to the Word group! (microsoft.com) (English only), where a dedicated developer will look at your feedback and comment on it.
