My keyboard will not repeat when I press and hold down a key. I did not have this problem before. I checked the control panel and the keyboard is set to the fastest repeat setting.

    Hi karen9922,

    a) Do you face this problem while using any particular application?

    b) Did you make any hardware orsoftware changes on the computer prior to this issue?

    Method 1

Let’s connect some other keyboard and check if it’s working fine.

    Method 2

Also, check if the character repeats in onscreen keyboard.

1.Open On-Screen Keyboard by clicking the Start button,

2.Clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking Ease of Access, and then clicking On-Screen Keyboard.

    1. Open a Notepad file. Check if the character repeats when you press and hold any key.

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

    Regards

I have same problems as Karen9922 - all of a sudden my keyboard keys will not repeat.  I have checked on keyboard repeat functions and I also checked the on screen keyboard which has same problem.  Cannot figure out why this changed all of a sudden.

    Hi Sally_877,

    1.        What is the make & model of your keyboard?

    2.        Have you made any software or hardware changes on your computer prior to this issue?

Let’s follow these methods & check if the issue persists:

    Method 1

You may connect the keyboard to a different computer & check if the keyboard works correctly.

    Method 2

You may download & install the latest keyboard drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

I had the same problem - holding down a key would not repeat. This worked for me:

go to settings, ease of access, keyboard, set filter keys to off.
