Free certificate - App Service Managed Certificate - will it work for none direct CNAME's?

Hi,

I have SAAS application with multiple domains pointing to abc.mydomain.com which in turn has a CNAME to my domain.azurewebites.net
Right now im getting:

Properties.Canonical Name is invalid. Certificate creation failed unexpectedly for canon

According to other questions relating to this, it has to be pointing directly to domain.azurewebsites.net

My question is for the long term: Will this be supported in the future? I know it does not work in the preview.

Many thanks!

Marcel

    Hi

    You can map a custom domain with the free certificate already. (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/configure-ssl-certificate#create-a-free-certificate-preview)

    I think you maybe just miss the option when you manage the custom DNS CNAME, as in that window the custom CNAME would be listed as unsecure. You add the correct SSL binding from there.

    Hi yagmoth555,

    It does work for a custom domain with a CNAME directly to mydomain.azurewebsites.net

    But what i have is:

    myclient.clientdomain.com CNAME to -> mydomain.mydomain.com CNAME to -> mydomain.azurewebsites.net

    I'm trying to receive a certificate for myclient.clientdomain.com, this is where the error occurs and is not supported in the preview
