this is my every day life with digital ocean servers. if you email like the log says, they reply telling you to use the sender unblocker. you use the sender unblocker, it claims 30min, takes over a day before it changes to "but this ip aint blocked" and you still get the errors. office 365 is a mess. its been years and it still has the bug where you cant even log into the admin panel if you give yourself too many admin privileges because their jwt becomes "too large"

Hi,

I have exactly the same story here. When trying to delist the IP (sender.office.com), I've been told "The IP address in question is not currently blocked in our system." but when (my customers are) sending emails the IP is "550 5.7.511 Access denied, banned sender[x.y.z.65]". Problems started 21th day of December 2021.

Situation is very frustrating. I'm really trying to do my best here. I've joined SNDS and JMRP -programs, but they are not helping at all.

I've tried to find other ways for delisting process, but all I get is automated replies. I'm guessing my IP might be in bad reputation IP-area. I hope Microsoft could still treat IP addresses as one by one, because there might be "friendly ones" too.

My server is hosted with Linode and it's located in Frankfurt.

When did this start happening to you? I got my first bounce back at 7:30am Tuesday 21st December, GMT. My mail server is also on Linode, but in London.

I have an engineer looking into it but he is very confused, because they state my IP is NOT on Microsofts banned list. He keeps asking me to try it again as they "did something" but still doesn't work.

I have the same issue on 2 of my servers, both on Linode, one in London, and the new one in Germany.
Now I am wondering if all Linode IPs are blacklisted, even though Microsoft automated delisting service says my IPs are not listed, yet non of my clients is able to send emails to office365 users. Very frustrating, and Microsoft support sucks, they simply don't care.
If anyone finds a solution to this, please share.

Same issue here on linode server out of Fremont. Have tried the microsoft delist paths. Verified my DKIM/SPFs are valid. Opened Linode support ticket. Using on 3 domains from single IP and all are clean according to spamhaus.

FWIW, I'm running Mail-in-a-Box on my Linode. I've made sure all is updated and MIAB system status is all green.

I've noticed the problem on 2 recipient domains so far with same "550 5.7.511 Access denied, banned sender " bounce. Problem first noticed on Jan 3rd, but could have been there longer since we don't email to the affected domains very often.

I can confirm the exact same symptoms that started on the 21st of December 2021. I work with tech support in a small Norwegian hosting company and we have been flooded by complaints from our customers, naturally.
Our staff have been working tirelessly to contact Microsoft several times a day for the last two weeks. The answer has always been the same, they can't find any errors, and the IP address of the email server that is being bounced is not blocklisted.
I think I personally have had email conversations with more than 10 reps from Microsoft, and several pointless cries for an update in Twitter DMs as well as some phone calls the led to nothing.

I understand that Microsoft is a huge company and that noone there can have the full overview of everything. But here we have a large number of very tech savvy professionals contacting them with the exact same issue that can be easily replicated. I do not accept or understand how this issue has been going on for so long without being properly escalated to a technical level where someone with both the competence and power to correct have been made aware of it.

I sincerely hope that the issue will be dealt with now, because this is killing small businesses that have customers that don't understand the concept of a bouncing error at Microsoft's end. They merely see that they are unable to send email to a large number of recipients suddenly, and naturally blame their email provider.

I am also having exactly the same problem with mails bouncing back from Microsoft saying that my IP Address is banned. It is a linode based in london on the 178.79.x.x range.

I've spent all weekend changing both the IP address of the server and mail server and have received exactly the same bounce back on the new IP address.

I've been in contact with multiple Microsoft reps who say the IPs are not banned and the last one who asked me to try again in 24 hours - 24 hours later, no change.

This has been happening now for over two weeks and I'm just going round in circles with microsoft.

It's truly ridiculous that this is still a problem two months on. At least three of our linodes have fallen victim to this 550 5.7.511 Access denied snafu from Microsoft, and AFAIK there has still been no recognition by Microsoft that the problem even exists. Linode meanwhile have been working to get things resolved and providing regular updates to customers.

Once of our linodes (Fremont) was silently un-blocked just last week after not being able to send emails to a range of Outlook 365 servers for 50 days!

Meanwhile another Linode (Tokyo 2) is still receiving the "550 5.7.511 Access denied" for sent, relayed and bounced emails.

Just today we received another completely useless response from the de-listing team:

We were unable to identify anything on our side that would prevent your mail from reaching Outlook.com customers.

If you are still experiencing deliverability issues, please reply to this email with a detailed description of the problem you are having, including specific error messages, and an agent will contact you.

Only of course we can't reply directly as requested because that only returns another "550 5.7.511 Access denied" response...

Meanwhile we are left with the option of either setting up external SMTP servers for hundreds of websites/domains, or telling our clients, and their customers, that we can't reliably deliver their emails. What a bs.

Similar issue here with a Linode, based out of Newark, NJ data center, within the IP Block of 50.116.48.0/24

The issue is that their delisting portal does not work at all in the case of a 5.7.511 error code. It does work for for 5.7.1 and some other codes.

The only way to resolve this, apart from changing your IP address, is to bash your way through Microsoft support until you get to a 'level 3' support person.

They may lie to you that your IP address has been sending junk mail, but when you call them out on that by providing their own JMRP and SNDS data as evidence, your IP address should be unblocked.

Which support channel are you using that you manage to get up to level 3? When i contact support I get stonewalled. Maybe you go through a specific channel?

No, I just kept replying to the "your IP address is not blocked" and other emails, a bit ruder each time, and eventually broke through :)
But make sure that your IP address is actually clean and try to get some JMRP, SNDS and DNSBL data to back you up.
