Is there any official word or timeline / timeframe on when PowerShell Core will be released / GA / put into production in Azure Automation? I've seen posts about it being available in preview since about November last year, but can't find anything on when it's expected to be taken out of preview. Does anyone have anything official they can share / link?

Any update on this? I've changed companies now, but am looking again at how to best use PowerShell Core in an Automation Account. Disappointingly, not only has the 7.1 runbook gone from preview to release, 7.1 itself has been out of support since 8 May 2022. This is causing problems with things like Microsoft Graph; I'm trying to use Managed Identity as recommended by Microsoft, but when I pass the token from Connect-AzAccount to Connect-MgGraph, I get an error because the version of Newtonsoft.Json that ships with 7.1 (v10) is incompatible with the recent versions of Microsoft.Graph (which uses v13). I'm forced to once again go back to Windows PowerShell, which comes with its own issues (like the fact new features available in PS Core are not being added to WinPS, and that I'm no longer developing as much in WinPS, so I'm not as familiar with its quirks).
This is really becoming a problem when the modules are moving ahead with the PowerShell versions, but Azure Automation is not; it really needs more development effort put into it to keep it current.

As mentioned in this Azure Updates notification, its already in public preview. GA is not confirmed yet and it would tentatively be by Q2 CY22.

Yeah, I saw that announcement, but it doesn't say when I should expect it to be released (and more importantly, supported). I'm having to re-write some Azure Automation runbooks from AzureAD to Microsoft.Graph, since AzureAD Graph is being deprecated in June, and it'd be nice to change from WinPS to PS Core at the same time (since the Graph module supports Core, and AzureAD didn't). Do you have anything officially announced? Is that "tentatively" an official target date? And when you say "by Q2", that'd be by end-March? Or do you mean by end of Q2?

Yes, at this point, "tentatively by Q2 CY22" is official tentative target date. And when I say "by Q2 CY22", i.e., "by Apr-June timeframe in Calendar Year 2022". We would provide another Azure Updates notification when GA date is confirmed.
