I am trying to delete the security update K5009543, because of the issues it causes with the VPN L2TP connections..

I tried uninstalled it from cmd (run as Administrator)

wusa /uninstall /kb:5009543

But the uninstall doesn't complete as it says the update is necessary. Is there any workaround?

    Heya folks,
Just stumbled across this and wanted to share -

I've been battling with this for 5 hours - Uninstalling the KB didn't work. Neither did replacing the IKE DLL.

Stumbled across an old memory related to Draytek VPN client not working.
Go in to Device Manager, then, Network Adapters
    Uninstall 'WAN miniport (IP)'
    Then scan for hardware changes,
It reinstalls - And seems to now work!
(albeit with the KB still uninstalled)

    phew

    Folks,

Is there a third-party alternative to MS VPN that would work?

I have done everything so far mentioned in this discussion, plus installed MS patches. I still get the L2TP error...

    Thanks
