How to pin the contents of my outlook calendar to a desktop widget/permanently display upcoming appointments in a small window on the desktop?

If I try and start the 'calendar' app in w11, it just opens outlook.

The calendar in the systray is useless as it doesn't display anything except dates.

I want to see a summary like what you can see in the outlook 'to-do' bar so I can track upcoming appointments without having to keep reverting to the app itself.

There do not appear to be any outlook calendar widgets in the microsoft store.

How to solve this very simple problem?

    Hello Gold Star User,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. I'm happy to assist you with this request.

Based on your post regarding "How to pin the contents of my outlook calendar to a desktop widget/permanently display upcoming appointments in a small window on the desktop?", to understand the situation and be able to offer you relevant suggestions, we would need a little more information from you. Kindly help us by providing the following information.

Could you please provide us with the product and version details of your Outlook? and What version of Outlook do I have?

What version of Outlook do I have? - Microsoft Support.

May I know your affected account type and subscription, Is it a Microsoft365 business or Microsoft Personal account (outlook.com/Hotmail.com/live.com) or any third-party account?

May I confirm that you get the same situation in both Outlook for Desktop and Outlook on the Web (https://outlook.office.com)?

In the meantime, Click on the Widgets icon in the taskbar (it looks like a square divided into four smaller squares). If you don't see it, you can enable it by right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting Taskbar settings, and toggling the Widgets option to On.

    Add the Calendar Widget:

In the Widgets panel, click on the "+" icon or the "Add widgets" button.

Look for the Calendar widget in the list and click on the "+" icon next to it to add it to your Widgets panel.

Once the Calendar widget is added, you can customize it to show your upcoming events.

Click on the three dots (ellipsis) in the top right corner of the Calendar widget and select Customize widget.

In the customization options, you can select which calendar account to display events from. Make sure your Outlook account is selected.

Ensure that your calendar events are synced with your Outlook account. Open the Calendar app, go to Settings (gear icon), and check that your Outlook account is listed and syncing properly.

After customizing, the Calendar widget should now display your upcoming events directly in the Widgets panel. You can quickly glance at this panel to see your schedule without opening the full Outlook app.

I hope this solution make your day, Let me know if this resolves your issue or if you need any further assistance!

    Best regards,

    Hello Gold Star User,

Did you follow this steps? If you don't see it, you can enable it by right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting Taskbar settings, and toggling the Widgets option to On. ?

If So, Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type services.msc and press Enter. This will open the Services window.

In the Services window, scroll down and look for a service named Windows Web Experience Pack.

Ensure that its status is set to Running. If it’s not running, right-click on it and select Start.

Similarly, look for a service related to Microsoft Edge WebView2.

Make sure this service is also running. If it’s not, right-click on it and select Start.

If you don't see these services, it might indicate that they are not installed or there might be an issue with your Windows installation. You can try updating your Windows.

    Best regards,
