Word will not print page range

I have several users who have reported this issue in the last week. They cannot use the custom print in word for some documents. I have determined that it will work fine until a header or footer is inserted and "Page X of Y" is added. I've recreated this on my workstation with a blank document. I can custom print a page range with a header with no page, or "Page X" and it works fine. If I insert "Page X of Y" the document doesn't reach the printer. We are on version 14228.20250.

    We are having similar issues with Microsoft 365 (Current Channel) builds 2107 and 2108.
    Simple things like "print page 3" on documents that have been around for ages are no longer working.

    Whether I print contiguous or non-contiguous range, the results are the same. Inserting just the page number works. Inserting Page X of Y breaks it. I did a full online repair of office on the first user reporting this issue before I made this post. Since it is affecting multiple users here, I have determined it isn't a corrupted install.

    Hi Daniel,

    Per the description shared, I understand you are not able to print the Word documents with Custom Print if the Word documents contain the Page Number and based on the build number provided, you must be using the latest version of Current Channel Office apps i.e., Version 2107 (Build 14228.20250).

    If yes, I tested in the same version at my end and can print with a selection of Custom Print by using Page X of Y in the Header of the Word document. Since you mentioned you can repro the situation with a blank document, I suggest you perform the Online Repair to Office apps and check the behavior. Reference: Repair an Office application - Office Support (microsoft.com)

    If the problem persists, can you please share the Product Information of your Word application and whether you can Print it as PDF with Custom Print selection?
