SPF TempError during DNS lookup persistant

Hi,

we're getting an error when sending a mail from a non-microsoft-server (***domain is removed from privacy***) to a Office365-mailbox. The mail contains following message:

"Dieser Absender hat unsere Tests zur Betrugserkennung nicht bestanden und ist möglicherweise nicht der, der er zu sein scheint. Weitere Informationen über Spoofing"

The mail header contains a hint:

 > received-spf: TempError (protection.outlook.com: error in processing during lookup of ********: DNS Timeout)

But his error isn't temporarily, we've got it multiple times an the DNS server is working and returns correct SPF record (v=spf1 a mx include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:*******.com include:spf.******* -all). The "a" is included to allow ***domain is removed from privacy*** sending mails.

What can we do to avoid the spoofing message?

Regards,

Alex.

    Hi Alex,

Could you please add your server's IP directly to SPF record (not use A record of the domain) of domain in Office 365 and check if it helps?

The example SPF record look like: v=spf1 ip4:**.*.*.* include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all

where **.*.*.* is your public IP address

    Thanks,

    Baron

    Hi Akruth,

This issue mostly because of an incorrectly configured Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record that does not specify the IP address of the server or host. Please check the SPF record and make sure the IP address of the non-Microsoft-server or host added to your SPF record.

If it still cannot solve the problem, please send us a sample email header via Private Message. Double click the email and go File -> Properties -> Internet headers, copy it and paste to Private Message.

    Thanks,

    Baron

    Hi Baron,

thanks for your reply, I think the SPF record is okay. The according header that I included in my post shows an error, but I can't find them. Which other email header do you need?

    Regards,

    Alex.

    Hi Alex,

Please send both of the sample email headers of emails with error and without error via Private Message.

    Thanks,

    Baron

    Hi Alex,

For now, I know that you are using Office 365 to relay emails sent from third party system.May I know which method are you using to relay the emails? SMTP relay / Direct send...?

Here is an article about how to set up third party application to send email using Office 365: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/How-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-Office-365-69f58e99-c550-4274-ad18-c805d654b4c4
