I recently purchased a Surface Pro Model 1514 and I am having trouble finding a pen that is compatible. Does anyone know which pens, Microsoft or otherwise,  are compatible with this model?

That is a Surface Pro and uses the N-Trig version of pen which Microsoft sells on their web site for $99.

For converting handwriting, as far as I know is that feature is built into the full version of OneNote and not the version comes with the tablet.  You can get the full version at onenote.com or if you have a subscription to Office 365, then you already have it and you may see two entries in the software listing of OneNote (one being the full version).

Handwriting has been added to almost everything in Windows 10 but OneNote is the only program I have seen that will convert the handwriting to text.

A Model 1514 is a Surface 2 (not Pro) which is a RT tablet and is phased out.

First of all, no regular pens where made for it and does not have a controller to function one.  But, there are fine tipped capacitive stylus you can find on Amazon that will work.  However, check on reviews before buying one because there seems to be a scam in regards to those things.

These are the same types of pens used with iPhones and usually have a blob of rubber on them to function - but there are fine tipped models made as well.

    Thank you James.

This unit is running Windows 10 - do you know if it would recognize writing done on the "handwriting" keyboard and convert it to text?
