Quickbooks qbregistration error. Intuit says it is in computer not software.

Has anyone had a problem trying to install QuickBooks Pro 2012.  I get the following error: " Error: QuickBooks has a problem in reading this registration file: qbregistration".  Have tried from the disc as well as Intuit on-line installer.  It verifies the license number but, gives me that error when I try and install.  Quickbooks support says that it isn't in the software but, won't tell me what to do as they want me to buy a service agreement  from them an allow them to access my computer to correct the install.

Thanks

    Hi,

Are you able to install other programs?

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Error: QuickBooks has a problem in reading this registration file: qbregistration.dat:   http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/articles/SLN41019

    Method 2:

Try to install the latest Microsoft Visual Basic C++ run-time components and then try to install QuickBooks.

How to obtain the Visual C++ 6.0 run-time components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403

    Method 2:

Place the computer in clean boot state and then check whether it helps.

How to troubleshoot problem by performing clean boot in Windows 7:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Once you are done with the troubleshooting, perform the steps from Step 7 to reset computer as usual.

If the Methods did not help, then it would be better to post the same question in the Intuit community (QuickBooks forum).

    Hope it helps.

    Hello,

Method 1:  I have already tried solutions 1 and 3 on that page.  I was a little nervous about solution 2, repairing the MSXML, until I talked to someone.downloading and installing the msxml.msi download isn't going to cause me any other issues is it?

    Thanks

Method #1 worked when I re-tried solution #1 along with completing solution #2 on the Intuit page.

    Finally.

    Thanks
