Since the most recent Windows 11 update, my laptop has been going into sleep mode after I stop using the keyboard for 1 minute. I have the “screen and sleep” settings set to 30 minutes for “on battery power” and 1 hour for “plugged in,” and the “power mode” is set to “balanced.” But it still goes to sleep after only 1 minute. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks.

Hello, Mark J G
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
If your laptop enters sleep mode after 1 minute of keyboard inactivity, even if you have configured the sleep settings correctly, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Update the power management driver:
Outdated or incompatible power management drivers can sometimes cause sleep mode issues. Visit the manufacturer's website for your laptop model and download the latest power management drivers. Install and restart the laptop to see if the problem is resolved.
(1) Open Device Manager: In Windows 11, you can open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
(2)Locate related drivers: In Device Manager, locate devices related to power management, such as display adapters, power management, or other devices that may be related. These devices may be located in different sections, and you can expand the appropriate section to view each device.
(3)Update Drivers: Right-click on the device you want to update and select "Update Drivers". You can choose to have Windows search for the latest drivers automatically, or you can download and install the drivers manually.
(4)Automatically search for drivers: If you choose to let Windows search for drivers automatically, the system will try to find and install the latest drivers on the Internet. Please make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
(5)Download drivers manually: If you choose to download drivers manually, you can visit your device manufacturer's official website and look for the latest drivers for your device model in the support or download section. Once downloaded, follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation.
(6)Restart your computer: After installing the drivers, it is recommended to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
2. Check advanced power settings:
Windows has other power settings that may affect sleep mode behaviour. Please follow the steps below:
Go to Start Menu > Settings > System > Power and Sleep.
Click Other Power Settings on the right.
In the Power Options window, click Change Schedule Settings next to the selected power schedule.
Then click Change Advanced Power Settings.
Look for the "Sleep" category and expand it.
Ensure that the "After Sleep" settings for both "Battery Powered" and "Plugged In" are set to the desired time. Adjust the values as needed.
Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
3. Disable Fast Startup:
The "Quick Start" feature sometimes interferes with sleep mode settings. Disabling it may help solve the problem. Do this as follows:
Go to Start menu > Settings > System > Power and Sleep.
Click "Other Power Settings" on the right.
In the "Power Options" window, click "Select Power Button Functions" on the left.
Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
Scroll down to the "Shutdown Settings" section and uncheck the "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" checkbox.
Click "Save Changes".
Check background programmes: Some background programmes or processes may prevent the laptop from entering sleep mode properly. Try closing any unnecessary programmes to see if the problem persists.
4. Scan for malware:
Malware infections can cause a variety of system problems, including power management issues. Run a full scan of your system with your favourite antivirus software to check for potential malware infections.
5. reset power plan:
If none of the above steps work, try resetting the power plan to the default settings:
Open Command Prompt (CMD) as an administrator.
Type the following command and press Enter: powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
Restart the laptop and check if the sleep mode behaviour has been resolved.

The problem began immediately after the most recent Windows update. So I think it's an os problem.
I have same issue but cannot rollback to older windows version.
Thanks for replying. I have not had any luck with this. Here are the steps I have taken, referring by number to the steps you suggested:
1. I was not able to locate a new power management driver for my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx on the HP website. When I searched for this, it had an option for Windows 10 but not the Windows 11 Pro I am running. I then went through the steps you suggested through Device Manager. When I right-clicked the listing under “Display adapters,” it told me I was already using the best driver. Device Manager did not have an entry for “power management” or for any other devices that seemed relevant.
2. Start Menu > Settings > Systems did not have an option for “Power and Sleep,” but it did have a setting for “Power & battery.” But this did not have an “Other Power Settings” option on the right.
3. I did manage to uncheck “Turn on fast startup (recommended)” (not sure how I got there). It did not fix the problem. As for changing background programmes, I don’t know which ones are unnecessary and so did not want to try this.
4. I ran Apex One Security Agent to look for malware infections. It found none.
5. I followed the steps you mentioned here. The problem was not fixed.
Do you have any other suggestions? Again, thanks for your help.
