Implications of Appication Insights resource Rename

The Overview page for an Application Insights resource contains the Rename option in the top bar.

I'd like to use this to bring an existing instance in line with the latest naming conventions.

Whilst I can see the name is not used in the connection string, I am reticent to change it for fear of unanticipated effects.

Will the rename simply change the name within Azure Services, or are there other factors I need to take into account?

many thanks,

Kingsley.

@Hodgkinson, Kingsley Welcome to Microsoft Q & A Community Forum. Connection string identifies the resource that you want to associate your telemetry data with. As far as I know, unless you are using resource id of the application insights , there would be any implications in renaming the application insights resource.

What if I have dependencies attached to the App Insights component name, What if I decide to update it to a different name, Will the alerts continue working in the same way ? Telemetry will continue working as it was?

    Thanks
