Tips to lower OS RAM usage?

Here's the scenario:

> New pc, upgrade to windows 11 pro beta on the new machine.

> This one is intel I7 , ( this particular machine was chosen for me ). I think I would have gone for a Ryzen instead.

This bells, whistles, and lights gaming machine stresses me out by the noise of the fans - so it's got me paying closer attention to what's running in the background.

I've found a more lightweight browser - with all the same tabs and extensions to try out.

I am currently becoming more consciously aware of how to be kind to the hardware in my machines by analyzing the software for best performance and power efficiency.

A cumulative update is in process - so I'm hoping that resolves some of the issues.

What can Windows do to make the Edge Browser more efficient? I've found I like a good blend of minimalism, functionality, speed, and an option to over ride web pages into dark theme - should I just currently be in that lighting mood.

I can't get the ram to run under 60% with light browsing.

I'm not sure if the ram in this tank of a machine is upgradable, or has additional slots. It's probably untouchable like the battery. Bet.

60 % is not necessarily bad - but it will be when I start working (learning) web development and have several projects open in my IDE it will likely run hot.

Admittedly, this fun gaming machine is teaching me a few valuable lessons on the interaction between software and hardware.

How can I lower the RAM consumption of the OS?

While fans are necessary for this tank - I'm not used to them. They get loud - which - in turn makes me anxious.

I'm hoping this update will help - but can anyone who is familiar offer any solutions that may help lower RAM that does not have me killing necessary processes?

please note that my system is not failing*

Hi Lindsey, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

Here are some tips I can suggest:

The most effective way to reduce memory consumption is to disable apps from running in the background.

If apps are downloaded from the Microsoft Store, you can right-click on the app > App settings and set the Background apps permissions to Never. This will allow you to only use the apps when needed.

Clearing Temporary files help as well.

    Also, disabling some startup apps.

(Disclaimer: Elevenforum is a non-Microsoft website, but the page provides accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.)

If you intend to use the browser, you can disable any extensions that you no longer need because each of them uses a background process, as well as some of the browser's visually appealing features.

If I may make a suggestion, I would suggest using Microsoft's PC Manager tool. I've been using this tool for quite some time to help me improve PC performance. (See the image below)
