Microsoft Project timesheet rejection notification

Question

Using Project Server 2010, with all resources submitting timesheets, on a weekly basis, for approval by the appropriate Status/Project Manager.

On occasion, a submission will be rejected by the Status/Project Manager.

What I need to find is how this gets notified to the resource, if it is even possible.

We have Power BI, which we run a number of reports from, one of which lists all rejected submissions, but I've not found any notification process, from within MS Project itself, to advise the submitting resource, that their submission has been rejected.

Is there something I'm missing please ?
