Been dealing with this for some time having a problem where my distribution points will not update. For the boundary group I only have the subnet that it's using for imaging and application deployment. I do not have the subnet of the main site in this boundary. The updates show in software center but as soon as I click install it fails. The errors mentioned in your post point to issue with content not getting download so I am a bit surprised there are no errors in CTM or datatransfersevice. Can you share the cas, locationservices, wuahandler and updatesdeployment logs?
Any errors in CTM or Data transfer service logs? Also, is the issue only with software updates or content in general? Did you check the health of the DP? Is the server and virtual directories reachable\accessible?
Not seeing any errors in the DataTransferService.log or the CTM.log. Only issues with software updates, we use all the DP's to image and have no problem with transferring the content over. Health checks are okay, yes I can reach this server from the MP as well.

Well nothing relevant in cas log that I can see which would connect to your issue. See if you can spot anything in the other logs that i mentioned about. Alternatively, if this is resulting in operational issues, then maybe opening a case with MS support would be correct course of action.
