Hi All, when attempting to back up a FortiGate Firewall deployed from the Marketplace, we receive an error that the operating system is not supported. Just wondering how you are managing backups for these types of devices or if there is intended support for backing VMs deployed from gallery images?

The error is:
{"code":"DeploymentFailed","message":"At least one resource deployment operation failed. Please list deployment operations for details. Please see https://aka.ms/DeployOperations for usage details.","details":[{"code":"Conflict","message":"{\r\n \"status\": \"Failed\",\r\n \"error\": {\r\n \"code\": \"ResourceDeploymentFailure\",\r\n \"message\": \"The resource operation completed with terminal provisioning state 'Failed'.\",\r\n \"details\": [\r\n {\r\n \"code\": \"UserErrorUnSupportedDistribution\",\r\n \"message\": \"Unsupported OS version for virtual machine backup.\"\r\n }\r\n ]\r\n }\r\n}"}]}

Thanks

    @Declan Backup of Fortigate Firewall VM is not supported as of today. You may add a comment and up-vote the feedback item here - https://feedback.azure.com/forums/216843-virtual-machines/suggestions/17484325-backup-fortigate-linux-vms Azure backup engineering is continuously monitoring this feedback forum and is looking at the usage rate of Linux flavors and working towards supporting them but there is no official ETA shared publicly.

    As a workaround you can install MARS agent on the VM and run the backups.
