Hello,

a week ago (15.9.2019) I got stopcode "System service Exception". Right now its second time this month. First time it was failed installation in Windows update. Hard to find as now...

15.9.2019 I got stopcode (as I wrote up) but everything was updated so I just wait. In Wednesday I found in Your website that in May was update for Windows so I downloaded it because I had my Notebook in "Safe mode" so can't reach Windows update. While I try to run it I got a message "something about I already have this update" so it was good but yesterday I try to restart NB (notebook) and in Windows update was that Im without last update (that one in may :/ 1903 - had 1803).

Becuase today I had time I used my downloaded update. Yeah and error 0xc0020036 but found old Question in:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-update/c65c5d9a-e437-4751-b8b8-1d03a3648841

so I tried this:

Hi Aubrianne,

There are times that this error occurs when some files in the Windows Update are missing or corrupted. Let's fix this by using**the Windows Update Troubleshooter to automatically diagnose and resolve any software issues related to Windows Update.

Just double-click the latest WindowsUpdate.diagcab file to run the troubleshooter. Then, selectNext and follow the steps in the wizard to find and fix issues with Windows Update.

Kindly update us with the result.

... my result was: "Service registration is missing or corrupted." (ok was no idea was is it)

Hi ChâteauDemex,

I have noticed that this thread has been idle for sometime now, I would like to know if you are still having difficulties on installing the updates to your computer and needs further assistance.

If yes, I will require some information to further isolate the issue. Please answer the questions below:

  • I would like to confirm the current build and version of your Windows. Press theWindows key and R buttons simultaneously to open the Run command then typewinver and press Enter.
  • Let's Check for updates on your computer again. Are the same updates are being offered to you?

No nothings here just info about windows: Version 1803 (build OS 17134.1006).

For now lets check for corruptions on your System Files by performing DISM and SFC commands. To perform DISM and SFC scans follow the steps below.

  1. Right click the Windows button, and then selectCommand Prompt (Admin). If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or clickAllow or Yes.
  2. Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth then pressEnter.
  3. Once the operation has been completed, Type sfc /scannow.
  4. Try to check for updates again.

Update us on the result.

The error code0xc0020036 stands forEPT_NT_NOT_REGISTERED (some Endpoints are not registered). Maybe your are of luck doing a repair with an Inplace Upgrade. But what's the root cause? Just a guess: Do you have installed third party antivirus solutions, that could affect the needed endpoints?

No, main problem is Stop code "System service exception" so I updated everything but still have that stopcode, so last program without update was/is just windows. I must have my NB in Safe mode, so while I try to update windows with this program (update assistant) connection is probably blocked. Then I got error code 0xc0020036.

In normal it's without error code, but it was without time to update (for verification and then installation = stop code in 75%)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We appreciate your effort on this. We understand that when you try to update Windows, you receive an error code 0xc0020036.

As you have already tried running the Update Troubleshooter and DISM commands, we would like to know the results of DISM command and sfc scan. However, the best option to update the Windows will be performing a repair installation. A repair installation will update the computer to latest version and repair all the corrupted files.

    Refer the steps mentioned below:

Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT) and use it to perform a repair installation of Windows 10. We have a video that can show you how if you aren’t sure

    Let us know the results.

    Regards,
