Win 7 to Windows 10 REFRESH using customsettings.ini

Question

I'd like to know if I have to use a MDT TaskSequence to use customsettings.ini ?

I'm trying to create a backup.wim of the system as a backup.

I also want to only copy profiles that have been used in the last 30days

If I have to use MDT TS do I have to disable the Format and Partition steps?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Yes, we have to disable the Format and Partition steps, if we enable it, it would wipe all data on the drive, including the USMT data. Instead, the Apply Operating System task will delete of all files and directories occurs on the drive minus protected USMT folders.

      Could you confirm that I have to use a MDT-MECM Task Sequence? 

      With the standard MECM Task Sequence I don't know of a way to use a customsettings.ini file

I read the official documentation: Refresh a Windows 7 computer with Windows 10
It seems we can use the task sequence created in the guidance: Deploy a Windows 10 image using MDT
It seems we do not need to disable the Format and Partition step.

My first reply is based on my MECM experience, in MECM, we have to disable the Format and Partition step.
Do we have the conditions to do a test?
