about Group-on in group-expression in detail-group while performing recursive hierarchy

Hello There,

I recently tried to perform a simple example on recursive-hierarchy; while in the process of steps, detail-group-properties is configured by adding group-expression -- group on -- a column.

I didn't understand how is it different from adding row-group with a parent-group. I have saved the screenshots in a pdf document which was attached to this question.

Would anyone please help me understand the scenario. Thank you for giving your valuable time.

    Hi @ArunRaaman ,
We will solve your doubts by testing.

Below is the initial dataset query data.

Create row groups in Tablix 1 - parent groups.

Add Group Properties on the Details of the Tablix2 row group - Group on [Parameter]

It is not difficult to find that if you add grouping Properties directly on the Detail row, it will not create a recursive hierarchical grouping on this basis, and there is still only one grouping symbol (detail group) in Tablix2. A feasible way is that you select Detail in Row Groups, right-click to create a group - parent group.
