About how long will it take to Migrate an Azure VM to Managed Disks? This particular vm has, for OS, 127GB Std HDD LRS, and 9 data drives, 4 are Std HDD LRS from 1TB to 2TB each, and 5 Premium SDD LRS from 512GB to 4TB each. I suspect that the amount of data used on the disk has not effect on this process since it is really moving the disk image files to a different locations.

I understand you want to know if there are any changes to the conversion time of unmanaged to managed disks. There has not been any changes that I am aware of. Usually, the process completes quickly. We recommend completing the conversion during a normal maintenance window as the VM will reboot during the conversion. Please see the FAQ for the expected performance impact time.

Migration involves movement of the Disk from one Storage location to another. This is orchestrated via background copy of data, which can take several hours to complete, typically less than 24 Hrs depending on the amount of data in the disks. During that time your application can experience higher than usual read latency as some reads can get redirected to the original location, and can take longer to complete. There is no impact on write latency during this period.
