fake pop up

Today, I left my computer open (not sleeping) for a couple minutes, when I return to it I got that "windows at serious risk" pop up, saying windows have detected a virus that can access my bank accounts, emails, etc. It asks my to call a toll free number 1-888-something. I did call that number, but I didn't give them any personal info before I realized that this phone number might be faked. The pop up wouldn't let me close that tab, so I restarted my computer and that pop up was gone.

Besides running a windows security scan and remove any malware, what else should I do? Is my personal info still "at risk"?

Thank you very much

The pop up looks exactly like this (except date)

Windows for home | Previous Windows versions | Security and privacy

It's a common scam and no harm done unless you allow them remote access. Click the OK button at the bottom of the popup. You should then see a box Do not allow this site to create new messages. Check it and then close the window.

If that does not resolve it, use the Task Manager to exit the browser. Reboot and see if the pop-up goes away.
