OCR Error for Japanese pdf files.

When I use OCR feature in Japanese documents by clicking" copy text from this picture" or "copy text from this page of the printout" , the recognized texts have spaces in between every letters.

( by the way, what is the diffrent between " copy text from this picture" and "copy text from this page of the printout"
both shows up when I try to OCR a pdf. And how can I copy texts form all pages form the printout at once? I know there is this picture at Windows, but it is also possible for Mac?)

For example, When I OCR the word, "Onenote" the result becomes "O n e n o t e".

OCR actually works fine for English and another language(Korean), but when it is for Japanese files, it creats wired spaces .

(ex. "日本語英語"-> "日 本 語 英 語")

(They are not a scanned pdfs. They are just normal pdf files and as you know , Onenote change them to picture and then I try to copy text from those pictures to enable searching. I cannot search Japanese files because of these spaces)

Can I fix this? Thank you in advance.

    Dear yuyuringi,

    Greetings! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    I went through your post and also tried testing Japanese PDF files and images which have Japanese texts in the latest version of OneNote for Mac. I can confirm that I reproduced similar situation as you described. After using OCR feature, the result has spaces between words.

    I do understand the inconvenience caused and feel very sorry about it.

    Given this situation, I sincerely recommend you use Feedback tool inside OneNote to report this behavior. You may click Help menu > Send Feedback > I don't like something.

    Or click the feedback tool from upper-right corner(as shown below)>choose I don't like something.

    Feedback submit by this way directly goes to the related team. This is the best way to let OneNote developers aware of this situation and also know your requirements, your input will help improve the product and make it better for you and others.

    Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tina | Microsoft Community Moderator
