Hello! Today I decided to switch to windows 11. I have a harddisk and a ssd. When I want to install an app, I click on setup, and I want to install it on hhd, but somehow it doesn't ask for the installation path and automaticly installs on ssd. Please help me to disable the option to automaticaly install the apps on ssd(disk C), and get the abillity to choose the path

    Hi SORINfromMD

    Like Windows 10 you can set the drive for the installation of modern (UWP) apps in settings -> system -> storage -> Where new content is saved

    select the HDD from the dropdown under "new apps will be saved to:"

    Older desktop programs may still offer the option to choose a path but the modern apps don't, you can only set the drive in settings.

    you may get better performance when opening and running apps by saving to the SSD and using the HDD for data

    Hey Martmcd! Thanks for the response. I have tried what you recommended and still all the programs are installing on the main drive, only the ones which have the option to choose the path install on hhd. Isn't there an alternative, a setting that will disable this feature in windows so the programs will be required to ask for the path?

    Changing settings will not move any apps that are already installed.

    Unfortunately there is no tweak to force UWP apps to ask for an installation path.

    you can make the suggestion to the Windows development team using the feedback hub (winkey+F).

    There was a situation back in June 2021 where it was found that some application ignore this setting and install to the system drive, at that point Microsoft Agent Nikhar Khare asked users to send feedback

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    Some apps can be moved in settings after installation.

    settings -> apps -> apps & features

    locate the app in the list

    click the 3 dots to the right of the app and select move.

    some apps cannot be moved from the system drive and the move option will either be greyed or missing
