In Software Updates - all - there's nothing newer. As in nothing past 2016 and Windows 1511. SUP has been re-installed and is a new server. On-prem.

    Hi,

In this situation, we should check if the software update point is normal by checking wsyncmgr.log, WSUSCtrl.log, and WCM.log, these logs will record the update sync process, database connectivity, and health of the WSUS server for the site.

Even though we have re-installed the SUP, we need to analyse the problem according to the logs.

logs show sync activity. 3800 plus items downloaded. When I'm watching what is being downloaded it's all older updates. Windows 1511, Windows 1809 etc. Server 2016. I'm not seeing anything new.

I tried to remove the SUP and WSUS role. I wanted to remove the WID dir but TrustedInstaller was the owner and I couldn't change nor rename the WID dir.

So I re-installed WSUS and SUP no improvement.

Would there be a benefit of using SQL DB instead. All roles are on the same server. It's a small environment. 500 clients. Server and MECM are at current OS 2019 etc.

One other note. The server OS is still waiting activation. ConfigMgr has 50 days left for the trial. We're waiting on the vendor to add the key. Would this have anything with us not being able to get the newer updates?

    Hi,

In the logs, is there any error in them? As we mentioned, (When I'm watching what is being downloaded it's all older updates. Windows 1511, Windows 1809 etc. Server 2016. I'm not seeing anything new.), is it the same as the wsync process? Is there 'Success' in the last sync status in the tab of Monitoring? Besides, please check if there is any error in event viewer.

Would there be a benefit of using SQL DB instead. All roles are on the same server. It's a small environment. 500 clients. Server and MECM are at current OS 2019 etc.

Actually, there is no problem using WID, but maintenance could take several hours and its could slow. It maybe be related to this issue. It is better to use SQL. Here is the related discussion about WID and SQL:
