Storage Space physical size is 21.7TB on 8 3TB drives but the storage space is showing only 14.4 availabe.

Can you explain why? I understand parity but that is a huge drop. Also writing data is incredibly slow can you explain why?

Hi @James Boone

The space available will be highly dependent on the type of RAID being used. The type of RAID will also account for the read/write speed of the data.

For example RAID 0 will give you 100% storage capacity and RAID 10 will only give you 50%, with other RAIDs somewhere in between.
