Azure for Students subscription won't let me create virtual machine in East US
Hi, I'm having trouble creating a virtual machine in Microsoft Azure. When I try to make one in the East US (my location), it says that the subscription doesn't support creation in the US.

There are two errors here. It looks like there is both a high demand for the VM size you are trying to create and you may need to submit a request to gain access to that region.
Error message: This size is currently unavailable in <location> for this subscription / NotAvailableForSubscription:
You may find that some VM sizes are unavailable as there is currently high demand for VMs in certain regions (this is especially true for free account VM sizes). The solution is to create your VM resources in neighboring regions during these periods of high demand. If you are having trouble finding a region, please create a thread here on Microsoft Q&A and we will be happy to assist you.
@michaelm33453 , I'll reach out to you directly with some recommendations.
What this looks like
There are two scenarios that are being reported. Both of these are due to high VM demand in certain regions that may result in some VM sizes being unavailable. No VM images are available from the dropdown giving an "The value must not be empty" error.
Attempting to select B1s results in the NotAvailableForSubscription error.
What should I do?
During these periods of high demand, look at neighboring Azure regions to create your VM resources. If you are having trouble finding a region with availability, create a post here in Microsoft Q&A listing the region you are interested in as well as the VM size and we will be happy to assist you.Your subscription doesn't support virtual machine creation in <location>. Choose a different location.
You may need to request access for certain regions. Click on "Learn more" and "Click here for available locations" for more information as well as recommended locations. If you need to use that location specifically, you can create a new support request:

- In the portal, go to Help + support and click on + New support request.
- Complete the support request. Issue Type: Service and subscription Limit (quotas), Quota type: Other request, Description: "Request access for the Azure <region name> Regions.
