Hi there

Compliance Center > Information Governance > Retention Policy:

  • What is this " Do Nothing" option?
  • Why is it grayed out and does not let me change it? I am SP Admin and Global Admin both.

    Hi @frob ,

1.The option “Do nothing” means that nothing will be changed at the end of the retention period. The system will not delete the file at the end of the retention period automatically, but users are able to delete files by himself as the retention police is end.
    2. After the retention policy is created, you are not able to change some options like “Do nothing” when edit retention policy and this behavior is by design. So I suggest you to create a new retention policy to implement the desired changes.
