Hi Team,

We are planning to upgrade the OS on SharePoint server, however MS team not recommending the in-place OS upgrade, that's why we are trying to add the new application SharePoint 2016 server to the farm.

New server details : Windows server 2019 standard updated patches.
OLD servers details: Windows server 2012 R2 with updated patches.

New server setup is successfully configured:

  1. Enable roles and features
  2. .net frames
  3. SP prerequire sites
  4. SP 2016 installation
  5. Patches (SP1, SP2, May 2021 PU KB5001917)
  6. When run the SharePoint Configuration wizard it is getting failed to connect the Database.

Troubleshooting

Service account has SYS admin permission in SQL instance,
TCP port is enabled,
UDL connectivity is successed,
Pinging the both servers, telnet, tracert.
Instance name is correct,

    Issue Resolved::

I have configured the Cliconfg.exe in SharePoint Server, In which SharePoint server you are unable to connect to the database even all parameters are working.

    1. Cliconfg.exe run the command as administrator in windows PowerShell.
    2. Select alias and click ADD
    3. choose the TCP/IP
    4. Provide Server alias name, it is instance name or lister name
    5. provide DB Server Hostname
    6. Provide DB instance port number by default 1433
    7. Click OK and again OK
    8. Now restart the server and run the SharePoint configure wizard.
