Ever since I upgraded to Windows 11 my AIO PC has been virtually unusable. The Task Manager shows hard disk usage at 100% constantly and I can only run one app at a time. I've asked the manufacturer and they say I should downgrade to Windows 10. Happy with this solution as my PC performed perfectly well before but how do I go about it?

Hi, I am Van. I'll be glad to assist you today.

If the operating system is still within the 10-day period after upgrading to Windows 11. You can go back to Windows 10 by going to Settings > System > Recovery. Then click the "Go back " button beside the Previous version of Windows option.

If you are using Windows 11 for more than 10 days. The only option to downgrade to Windows 10 is by reinstalling Windows 10.

    Best regards,

    Van

    An HP PC?

Their support was taking the easy way out, if that device was not capable of running win11 you could not have upgraded.

Have you visited that makers support to update both Bios and All Drivers?

There should be a shortcut on your system to the HP Update utility

To move from Windows 11 to Windows 10 there is a default and modified go back period after an upgrade.

These are 10 and 60 days respectively.

If a clean install of Windows 11 had been performed then there is no go back option.

If there were backup images made there there is an unlimited go back period by restoring an image.

One method to move from Windows 11 to Windows 10 is a clean install:

    1. Manually back up important files
    2. Find a flash drive that you can format ( > or = 8 GB)
    3. On a working Windows computer create a bootable Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT) (Windows 10 iso)

    1. Move the bootable flash drive to the applicable port on the problematic computer
    2. Boot to the flash drive

    1. Delete all partitions making an unallocated drive
    2. Clean install Windows 10

    1. Reinstall drivers displayed on the computer, motherboard, or component manufacturer websites
    2. Reinstall applications
    3. Restore backed up files
    4. Make free backup images
