Microsoft Teams - Black screen when sharing desktop, works with single application sharing version 1.3.00.12058

Team hi,

An old problem came back after updating Teams to version 1.3.00.12058

Let me take it from the beginning. When I was on version 1.3.00.8663 and trying to share my desktop the participants got a blank screen. On the other hand when I used a single program sharing it was working fine.

Please note that I was working with an external screen (34'' Dell screen) and the screen resolution was 3440x1440 widescreen. I notice then that the problem goes away when I changed my screen resolution to 1920x1080. With that resolution the participants could see my screen when sharing desktop.

Reading the Microsoft forums I saw that this problem goes away if I updated to version 1.3.00.9267 (64-bit). I did the update and indeed the problem solved.

Today I had another teams update to version 1.3.00.12058 and the same problem came back again.

Can I ask for your help on this?

Thanks in advance

Christos

    Hello Theodoridis Christos,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft community. This is known issue and our related team is working on this issue. You can check it via Screen Sharing with 3440 x 1440 Resolution shows as a black screen. Meantime as a  workaround, they suggested to please try using either ‘application sharing’, or change your resolution to a higher or lower resolution for screen sharing and seems at this moment you are follow the same workaround. So once the fix will be available, we will post back here and you can also observe the current status of this issue by observe the above mention link.

Your kind understanding and co-operation will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi,

I am getting this issue now with Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.16575 (64-bit) and using a 3840x2160 (4k) screen. Screen shares with black screen in Teams desktop. I have had success with screen sharing (this afternoon) Teams online.

Have tried various resolutions, but that doesn't have any effect.

I have tried deleting the teams AppData folder - it did allow sharing from desktop version the first session of Teams, but the next time it reverted back.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jason
