In Azure Blob Storage should I group user data using containers or blob names?

Anton 1 Reputation point

I am going to use the Azure Blob Storage on my backend to store user data (some JSON files but it does not matter).

Should I create a container per user or should I use a single container and put all data there using hierarchical blob names like "user-id/blob-name"?

@Anton Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum, Thank you for posting your query here!

You use hierarchical blob names like "user-id/blob-name"

The hierarchical namespace optimizes Azure Storage accounts for use in this scenarios while not forcing the creation of a separate silo of data. The ability to enable the hierarchical namespace for accounts containing existing data allows those customers that are already benefiting from the cost and performance benefits of Azure Storage to gain even more benefit.
