Cursor selecting text on single click.

Hello, in Office 365 (in Chrome) my cursor is selecting one letter on single click instead of clicking in between the letters. I have pressed the insert key on my keyboard and it has not affected anything. How do I turn this off?

    Press Insert on your keyboard. Will revert it to normal selection.

    I'm curious about how this is the answer when the OP said he had pressed the Insert key without effect.

    It didn't work for me, It could be because I'm on a laptop. I do have an insert/print key which I did press, it did not resolve the problem. I tried pressing other keys as well to see if I accidentally pressed one, but none of them worked. This problem randomly occurred while I was trying to code.

    Hi lanXN,

    Thanks for posting in the community.

    According to your description, when you click to set cursor between letters, it will auto select the letter or word in Word Online. We have test on our side and are unable to reproduce the same situation as yours.

    Here are the suggestions may help you:

    1. Check your mouse. You could change another mouse if the mouse has some mistakes.
    2. Check your keyboard. If the Shift key is mistaken and always been pressed, it will auto select the letters when you click the content. If so, you could use other keyboards.
    3. Since the issue happens in Chrome, you could try to change another browser to open the document and check whether the issue will happen again.
    4. If the issue only happens in Chrome, try to reset the browser to see if it works.

    If the issue still exists, please provide us more information to narrow down the issue.

    1. Does the issue only happen in Word online or also happen in other online apps like Excel?
    2. Does the issue only happen in specific document or in all documents?
