Connection to RDS stuck on "Configuring remote session" when trying to connect from externally

Good day

We have set up a RDS and a RDSGW. When trying to connect from externally it gets stuck here:

The credentials are being verified:

The way I set it up is like this:
2 Servers

Server1 RDS Server (just for the Remote Sessions)

Server2 RDSGW Server (used as Gateway, License Server, Web Access for Remotedesktop and Broker)

I'm using a valid Certificate. It is installed on the IIS as well as on the Gateway. When I check the certificate I can see that it's the same one and it works/is valid.

When connecting internally it works just fine. I'm using the same RDP file.

What could the problem be and which logfiles could I check?

    There were 2 problems.

    1) we had a site to site vpn that was a problem
    2) one other pc just couldnt connect (dont know the reason there, but there was no vpn involved there)

    a third pc that we tested via hotspot worked....
