Why the game that I played is blocked?

Hi,

I just installed some games from internet and also from a CD that I bought. For some reason if I played the game in full screen mode, just when the game is loading it goes back to desktop again. It's as if something blocked it (if it was what really happened). I tried to pres again the taskbar button to keep loading it, but although it already finished loading it goes back again to desktop. Usually I used McAfee but lately I uninstall it, but now I don't use it anymore. This starts to happen recently.

When I still use McAfee i don't have this problem. It tried to check the security in Control Panel & change the firewall setting to allow the game product to be played. But it's annoying that everytime I install a game I have to set to allow some game through firewall & restart the laptop again. I don't even know if it's the firewall program at fault since I actually turn off the firewall program. It worked for some game but didn't work well to one of the game. The game is still blocked after I change the firewall setting & tried to play the game in full screen mode. The game is compatible with Windows Vista, it's written in the CD case. What actually is happening? What should I do?

Thank you very much

When you install games that need to connect to the internet, the first time you start it, windows will ask if you want to allow it to access the internet. It only does this once, and maybe when it did you accidentally pressed "don't allow". I know you said you checked the firewall, but make sure you set it as an exception in the firewall.

If you go to the screen where you can turn the firewall on and off, and click the exceptions tab, you can click the "add program" button, select the .exe of the game in the program files (not the shortcut), and this will allow it through the firewall. Your anti-virus software might also be blocking it, so you may have to add it to a "trusted program" list or something similar (it depends on the anti-virus).
