Report all user names that have visited a SharePoint site.

Hi,

I'd like to report all user names that have visited a SharePoint site.

Thanks,
Lewis.

You could through audit logs to achieve this. Here're steps:

1.Go to Microsoft 365 admin center -> Compliance -> Audit.

2.Set Date and time range and site collection URL in the File, folder, or site section.

Thank you for this Emily.

I have looked at the audit search facility and this is good as far as it goes but i need to be able to report user visits to multiple SharePoint sites. I have also looked at the graph APIs but this seems to only return the same as the admin centre usage reports.

The usage reports would be a good start if there was a way of cross referencing the user report and the site activity one.

It must be possible to return both sets of data in a single report but i may need access to the raw tables that underlay all this functionality.

Regards,
Lewis.

For report users access to multiple SharePoint sites, you could separate different site collection URLs with commas in the File, folder, or site section.

Thank you Emily that's really helpful. Is it possible to use wild cards to save typring each site URL ?

Unfortunately this won't meet my needs as the remit is to be able to report across all\every site simultaneously. Ideally i'm looking for a way for Power BI, for example, to report against all sites and users in one report so detailed analysis of usage can be pulled. And conversely, for a list of sites visited by users showing variables like duration and number of times visited etc.....

The data is there and must be available for conventional MI purposes and target the database in which it resides.

Obviously for this to be useful it would need to be automated not a one off search which the other options seem to be.

Thank you for all your help so far,
Lewis.

Good Afternoon,

I have resolved this myself now but as a supplementary question, can you filter the results returned by the management activity APIs ?

I'm looking to restrict the results returned by the audit API to just page views. Is this possible ?

Thank you,
Lewis.
