Remove/change usernames.

Question

On my laptop (Windows 11 Home) there are three usernames active. I have the passwords of all three of them. Say that there names are X, Y and Z. I want to remove X, rename Y to Z and remove the original Z. How do I do this? Thank you.

So basically you need to rename and remove accounts which is possible but you should make sure you are logged in as admin and you are not editing the same account to which you are logged in.

In the Control Panel, click on “User Accounts”. Then click on “Change account type”. Depending on your system’s security settings administrator rights may be required for this step.

In the next window, left-click the local user account you wish to change. Windows 11 will open a menu to customize the account. Select the “Change the account name” option.

Once you have renamed the account then you can follow the same step to remove the account from the PC.

With your admin powers, you can easily remove X and Z by deleting the account. Before that, renaming Y to Z can be done using this guide (works with Windows 11):
