How to change default file type for Save As option in Snipping Tool/File Explorer? (Windows 11)

Hello,

when using Snipping Tool in Win 11 and choosing option Save As.. to store a screenshot on my PC I am given option to choose a specific file format to Save the file as - the default option is *.jpg, but I need to save my screenshots as *.png. Right now, in order to save a new .png file or to overwrite any exisiting .png file I have to change the file type manually in the dropdown, which is really annoying when you need to capture many screenshots and save them in a required format. Also, there is no option to show All Files.

Is there any way to change the default file type to be .png rather than .jpg?

Would Microsoft IT Programmers please consider to add a option into the snipping tool settings to allow users to change the default image extension ?

I believe pretty much every other screenshot App out there has that option why not Microsoft App ?

Example: Greenshot App has the option...

    Hi Jakub,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

They have never provided a setting or option for that and there is not even a known registry hack to change the default file type the snipping tool will use
