If we have to deploy SCCM/MECM Active/Passive servers, is it mandatory to have a SQL backend setup configured as "Always ON Availability Group" or will it even work with either a SQL "Fail-over Cluster" or a SQL "standalone" server?

Hi, It will work just fine, there are no requirements to use either or, it is up to you which availability you are looking for.

    Hi,

Thank you for coming Microsoft Q&A forum.

The following SQL Server configurations can be used to host the site database:

1.The default instance of SQL Server
2.A named instance on a single computer running SQL Server
3.A named instance on a clustered instance of SQL Server
4.A SQL Server AlwaysOn availability group (beginning with version 1602 of Configuration Manager)

For more information, please refer to:

    Thanks for your time.

    Best regards,
    Simon
