UK South region zones

Hi

What is the distance between data centre zones in the UK South Region?
I would like to understand this before considering ASR from zone to zone instead of region to region.

Thanks

Reuben

@ReubenSmither-5927 Thank you for contacting us!

I assume you are planning to enable Azure VM disaster recovery between availability zones as documented here - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/azure-to-azure-how-to-enable-zone-to-zone-disaster-recovery

However, am not clear about this question "What is the distance between data centre zones in the UK South Region?"
Could you please re-phrase your question and elaborate a bit?

In the picture you can see the each av zone has its own datacenter, connected by fibre, what is the distance between these datacenter locations of UK South?

Thanks

There is no information published as it varies. In most cases, AZ’s are close, very close to each other. Mostly 100’s of meters , a few Km to a few 10’s of Kms.

Regions and Availability Zones in Azure | Microsoft Docs

(with my emphasis)

“An Availability Zone is a high-availability offering that protects your applications and data from datacenter failures.”

“To achieve comprehensive business continuity on Azure, build your application architecture using the combination of Availability Zones with Azure region pairs.”
