If you are running on integrated graphics without issues, and when running on the GPU + various different driver versions you get crashes, the video card itself sounds like it's faulty.

Over the last couple days my computer has been constantly crashing after displaying a "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message. I have never had this problem before and it only started to happen after I installed a new update for my graphics card from Nvidia called "nVidia Graphics adapter WDDM1.1 Graphics adapter WDDM1.2 Graphics adapter WDDM1.3 other hardware - NVIDIA Geforce GTS 450". I have looked at all sorts of forums for help on the issue but so far have had no luck. So far I have tried:
3. I even took my graphics card out and cleaned it to make sure it was ok, it was pretty dusty but cleaning it didn't solve the problem either.
Finally I gave up today and changed my PC to run off its crappy integrated graphics card that I have not used in years. I don't think I will be crashing any more but I will have to see.
For the record: I have NEVER overclocked anything in my computer and I have never had any problems using my graphics card to play games. The card is a Geforce GTS 450 and is about 2.5 years old now.

Quad Core AMD processor @ 2.9 GHz

If that driver version is the issue try reverting back to a known stable version.
Update BIOS, chipset, and other major drivers.

Thanks for taking a look at the cause of the problem. I am going to see if I can update my BIOS drivers.
Like I said before, I have already tried clean reinstalling to other driver versions, multiple of which are supposed to be stable, with no luck.
I have already been all over the nVidia forums and the problem is well known but with no standard solution. I may have to contact nVidia for support directly.

Your answer lies with Nvidia Support, their on-line documentation and drivers, and ask
in their forums about any known issues. If the latest drivers do not work then you may
need to revert back to an older stable version.
Nvidia - Drivers - Use OPTION 1 to manually enter your driver info to get most current drivers.

Although there is no indication either is involved be sure to check the memory and hard drive
as they can be involved is such issues.

If you don't crash on integrated graphics, and this is only happening after a driver update, it's more than likely an issue with the driver version you updated to. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.
